Circular Cutting and Flanging Machines
Machines for round blanks, rings and dished heads: from cutting the blank to dishing and flanging the finished head.

Circular Cutting, Dishing and Flanging Machines from EBR METAL
EBR METAL builds circular cutting and flanging machines for the sheet-metal shops that make round parts and tank heads. The DKM circular shears cut blanks and rings from thin sheet. The DHKM machines cut large blanks and flange their edges on one head. For dished heads, the HPDP dishing presses form the dish and the DBFM flanging machines form the knuckle.
DHKM Hydraulic Circular Cutting & Flanging Machines
Cut the blank and flange its edge on the same head, on flat and dished parts.

DKM Circular Shears
Manual and motorized circle shears for round blanks and rings from sheet up to 2 mm.

From Blank to Finished Head
- Cut the blank: a DKM circular shear (up to Ø1000 mm, 2 mm) or a DHKM (up to Ø4550 mm, 8 mm).
- Dish the plate: an HPDP dishing press forms the curved centre in many small press steps.
- Flange the edge: a DBFM flanging machine rolls the knuckle radius. A DHKM cuts and flanges thinner flat and dished parts in the same set-up.
In the USA, a dished-end maker forms heads up to Ø5000 mm on an EBR HPDP 300 dishing press and a DBFM 25 flanging machine.
For the cylindrical shell of the same tank, see the EBR METAL plate rolling machines.
Which Machine Do You Need?
| You need to | Machine |
|---|---|
| Cut round blanks and rings from thin sheet | DKM circular shear |
| Cut large blanks and flange the edge in one set-up | DHKM |
| Form dished heads | HPDP dishing press + DBFM flanging machine |
| Flange heads with or without a centre hole, up to 25 mm | DBFM |
The choice starts with the part drawing: material, thickness, diameter and whether the head has a centre hole.
Applications
- Tank and tanker ends
- Boiler and pressure-vessel heads: torispherical (DIN 28011), 2:1 semi-ellipsoidal (DIN 28013), tank-style, flat pan, reversed dished and cone heads
- Round blanks and rings from steel, stainless steel and other sheet
- Tank bottoms, lids and end caps of cylindrical containers

Frequently Asked Questions About Circular Cutting and Flanging Machines
What is the difference between a circular shear and a circular cutting and flanging machine?
A circular shear (DKM) only cuts blanks and rings from thin sheet. A circular cutting and flanging machine (DHKM) also forms a flange on the edge of the blank, on larger and thicker parts.
Can one machine make a complete dished head?
No. The HPDP dishing press forms the dish and the DBFM flanging machine forms the knuckle; a head needs both. Tell us whether the head has a centre hole, because that changes the flanging machine, and send the head drawing.
Can you make heads without a centre hole?
Yes, with the without-hole version of the DBFM 12–25.
Which thicknesses can the machines handle?
DKM up to 2 mm, DHKM up to 8 mm and DBFM up to 25 mm mild steel. HPDP presses range from 1500 to 3000 kN.
What warranty and support do you provide?
A 1-year warranty, spare parts from stock and free support by video call. For larger machines, our team can install the machine and train your operators on site, at extra cost.
