GMRH-RF Heavy-Duty Direct Gear Guillotine Shear

The GMRH-RF guillotine shear is a heavy-duty Direct-Gear machine built on EBR METAL’s heavier GMRH platform, with selectable front or rear discharge for cut pieces up to 400 mm. It pairs higher cutting capacity with a servo-driven NC backgauge, a ball transfer table and the RF cut-piece handling system.

Front/rear discharge selection is manual as standard. An optional pneumatic Send to Rear / Return to Sender system lets the operator choose the discharge direction from the machine control panel instead.

Front and Rear Cut-Piece Discharge

Cut pieces up to 400 mm long can be discharged to either the front or the rear of the machine. Discharge direction is set by positioning a guiding/protection plate beneath the cutting area before the cut is made; the mechanism then directs the finished piece to that side.

Front discharge lets the operator collect eligible cut pieces from the working side of the machine, without walking around to the rear. Cuts longer than 400 mm always discharge to the rear.

Standard Equipment

Manual RF System — Standard

Manual front/rear selection is standard on every GMRH-RF. The operator sets the guiding/protection plate to the required position before cutting; no pneumatic system is needed for this function.

Pneumatic Send to Rear / Return to Sender — Optional

The optional pneumatic system moves the same guiding/protection plate from the electrical control panel instead of by hand. The operator selects front or rear from the controls, and the mechanism repositions itself accordingly.

The system operates with approximately 6 bar compressed air. It suits operations that switch discharge direction more often and prefer to avoid the manual adjustment step.

Ball Transfer Table and Front Support Arms

A ball transfer table comes standard on the GMRH-RF guillotine shear, letting the operator move and position incoming sheet across the front table before cutting. Front support arms carry the portion of the sheet extending beyond the table so it doesn’t hang under its own weight.

Together, these let the operator bring the sheet to the required cutting position before the cutting cycle starts. The ball transfer table and support arms handle the sheet before the cut; the RF system determines where eligible cut pieces are discharged afterwards.

Servo-Driven NC Backgauge

A 750 mm servo-driven NC backgauge is standard on the GMRH-RF. The operator enters the required position on the NC control unit, and the backgauge moves there automatically — no manual repositioning for repeat dimensions.

This gives electronic backgauge positioning on top of the machine’s direct-gear mechanical cutting system.

Cutting Capacity and Materials

Published GMRH-RF capacities are rated for ST37 / S235JR carbon steel. Maximum thickness varies by model and cutting length. Material grade and tensile strength also matter when cutting stainless steel, aluminium or other metals.

Stainless-steel cutting capacity is lower than the corresponding carbon-steel rating and depends on material grade and tensile strength. Aluminium may allow a greater thickness depending on the alloy and its mechanical properties.

As practical guidance, a machine rated for 6 mm carbon steel may cut approximately 8 mm aluminium under suitable material conditions. Capacity for stainless steel, aluminium or other grades should be confirmed with EBR METAL before selecting a machine.

Guillotine Shear Blades

GMRH-RF blades are serviceable and can be reground as part of normal maintenance. The upper blade has two usable cutting edges; the lower blade has four, so the blades can be repositioned as edges wear.

A dedicated stainless-steel blade set is available as an option.

When to Choose the GMRH-RF

Choose the GMRH-RF when you need the GMRH platform’s heavier cutting capacity along with more flexibility in handling shorter cut pieces.

RF doesn’t change cutting quality versus an equivalent conventional GMRH — its value is in material handling. Cut pieces up to 400 mm can be collected from the front when required, reducing the need for the operator to move to the rear of the machine.

GMRH-RF machines run in general sheet-metal fabrication and are used by manufacturers such as HVAC producers. In practice, the choice between RF and non-RF comes down to cutting capacity, material-handling workflow and preferred equipment level more than a specific industry.

GMRH-RF or GMRL-RF?

Both machines offer the same RF front/rear discharge capability; the difference is capacity and construction.

GMRH-RF

  • Heavier construction
  • Higher cutting capacities
  • Higher installed motor power
  • Ball transfer table as standard
  • Manual RF as standard
  • Optional pneumatic RF (send to rear / return the sender feature)

GMRL-RF

  • Lighter machine construction
  • Lower cutting capacities
  • Ball transfer table as standard
  • Manual RF as standard
  • Optional pneumatic RF (send to rear / return to sender feature)

Customers who don’t need front discharge can choose the conventional GMRH or GMRL direct-gear guillotine shear instead.

A standard GMRH cannot be converted to a GMRH-RF later — RF versions are separate configurations and should be specified at order time.

Frequently Asked Questions About the GMRH-RF

Capacities are rated for ST37 / S235JR carbon steel and vary by model and cutting length. The highest-capacity models reach up to 6 mm. For other materials, grade and tensile strength affect the achievable thickness.

For cut pieces up to 400 mm, the RF mechanism can be set to discharge to the front or rear. In the standard version, the operator manually repositions the guiding/protection plate beneath the cutting area before cutting. Pieces longer than 400 mm always discharge to the rear.

No. Manual front/rear selection is standard. The pneumatic Send to Rear / Return to Sender system is an option that lets you choose the discharge direction from the electrical control panel.

Yes. The optional pneumatic RF system requires approximately 6 bar compressed air.

It has a 750 mm servo-driven backgauge controlled by an NC unit. Enter the required position and the backgauge moves there automatically, without manual repositioning for repeat dimensions.

Yes, within limits set by material grade, tensile strength and machine capacity. Published ratings are based on ST37 / S235JR carbon steel. Stainless-steel capacity is lower, while aluminium may allow greater thickness depending on the alloy. EBR METAL can confirm capacity for a specific material.

The upper blade has two usable edges and the lower blade four. The blades can be reground during normal maintenance, and a dedicated stainless-steel blade set is available as an option.

No. GMRH and GMRH-RF are separate configurations. If you need front/rear RF discharge, specify the RF version when ordering.
