MRD / RD 3-Roll Plate Bending Machines

The MRD / RD 3-roll plate bending machine comes in two versions of the same cast-iron design: the MRD is motorised and the RD is turned by hand. Both roll sheet from 3.0 mm on the shortest model to 1.5 mm on the longest.

A conical bending device is standard on both versions. Each comes in four sizes with useful lengths from 1,050 to 2,050 mm.

MRD or RD

On the MRD, a single gearbox and gear system drive the top and bottom rolls, a brake motor gives precise bending, and the operator works from a mobile foot-pedal control panel. The RD has the same frame sizes and is turned by hand, so it needs no electrical supply.

MRD | RD General Features

  • Cast-iron main frames
  • MRD: top and bottom rolls driven by a single gearbox and gear system
  • RD: hand-operated
  • Manual drop-end
  • Wire grooves at the roll ends (4/7/9 mm)
  • Manufactured in conformity with CE requirements

MRD | RD Standard Equipment

  • Conical bending device (MRD and RD)
  • SAE 1050 certificated steel rolls
  • MRD: precision bending with brake motor
  • MRD: mobile control panel with foot pedal

MRD | RD Optional Equipment

  • MRD only: motorised back roll adjustment
  • MRD only: digital readout for the motorised back roll
  • Induction hardened rolls (MRD and RD)
  • RD: fully closed bottom sheet cover

Plate bending capacities are given for 260 N/mm² plate yield strength.

Minimum bending diameter: top roll diameter × 1.5.

Choosing Between MRD and RD

Both versions share the same sizes and capacities. Choose the MRD, a motorised 3-roll plate bending machine with a brake motor and foot-pedal control, for powered rolling. Choose the RD, the manual 3-roll plate bending machine of the pair, where hand operation is preferred. Typical work includes ventilation ducts and parts, stove pipes and light cylindrical parts in 1.5–3.0 mm sheet, depending on thickness, working length and diameter. For sheet up to 2.0 mm, see the MSR | SR machines.
