HDM Hydraulic Punching Machine
The HDM hydraulic punching machine from EBR METAL is a floor-standing hydraulic punch press for holes in steel plate, flat bar and profiles. It is a single-station machine built for punching, with a deep throat for holes far from the edge of the part. On the larger models, an optional press brake kit adds flat bar and sheet bending.
Six standard models run from 30 to 175 tonnes. The largest punches Ø40 mm through 32 mm steel.

• Capacity 30–175 t • Punching up to Ø40 × 32 mm • Throat depth up to 625 mm • Stroke up to 80 mm

HDM Design
The HDM is a welded steel punching machine with a single punching station. HDM 65 to HDM 175 have a 625 mm throat, so holes can be placed well inside wide plates. HDM 30 and HDM 40 have a 300 mm throat.
The punch holder takes standard punches and dies, and special punch shapes are available as options. Bending tools from the optional press brake kit can be fitted on HDM 65–175. For series work, the HDM is also built with NC or CNC control and a feeding table.

Choosing the HDM Hydraulic Punching Machine
Choose the HDM hydraulic punching machine when hole punching is the main operation and the parts are wide. The 625 mm throat on HDM 65–175 reaches further into a plate than the punching stations of the HSW 40–115 ironworkers (175–355 mm). Size the model from the largest hole diameter and the thickest material.
If the same jobs also need angle, flat bar or solid bar cutting, the HSW hydraulic ironworker does all of these on one frame.
Typical work:
- connection, gusset and base plates for bolted steel construction;
- transmission tower and wind tower parts;
- brackets and flat bar parts for machine building, agricultural and construction machinery.
Request a Quote for the HDM
Send us the largest hole diameter, the material thickness and grade, and how far the holes sit from the edge of the part. Mention any bending work and your batch sizes, and whether you need NC or CNC control. We will propose a model and the punch and die set.
Frequently Asked Questions About HDM
Is the HDM a portable hydraulic punch?
No. The HDM is a floor-standing hydraulic punch press for workshop production, from 800 kg (HDM 30) to 5,270 kg (HDM 175).
What is the largest hole the HDM can punch?
Up to Ø40 mm in 32 mm material on the HDM 175, and Ø125 mm in 5 mm material. Values are for 450 N/mm² steel.
Why choose the HDM instead of an ironworker?
The HDM 65–175 have a 625 mm throat and a single station built for punching. On the HSW ironworkers, the throat is 175–355 mm on HSW 40–115. Choose an ironworker when the jobs also include section and bar cutting.
Can the HDM bend?
Yes. HDM 65–175 take an optional press brake kit, for flat bar up to 250 × 25 mm and sheet up to 700 × 4 mm on the HDM 175.
Is the HDM available with NC or CNC control?
Yes. NC- and CNC-controlled versions with a feeding table are built to order, for example on the HDM 85 and HDM 115. They are suited to series punching of plates with many holes.
